An open letter to Brides about their wedding dress

To Brides Everywhere,

You dream of the dress you will wear on your wedding day, you try it on with your mom and best friend in tow, then you walk down the isle towards the man of your life. This dress you have dreamed of will get dirty, it will get ripped, and you may spill wine on it. But you know what? It doesn’t really matter, those rips can get mended, those wine spills can get cleaned, and that dirt just washes off.

Why do those things really not matter? What matters most is that you are walking down the isle to a man you have dreamed out, and that man is going to love and adore you till your last day on earth. He is going to love you even if your dress gets mud on it, a spider gets stuck in the tool, or your aunt steps on your dress to tear it. He will look into your eyes, tell you that that rip is a memory of a time you two started an amazing adventure together. An adventure that will be filled with little rips, messy arguments, and wine spills. And after you clean up from a messy argument you will look into each others eyes and remember how much you love him, and those tiny little arguments and messes really weren’t really that big at all.

I adore when brides will walk in water, sit on the ground and climb up on rocks for a stunning photo. Trust is another reason for this! I believe in the vision I have for their photo, and if they are willing to get a little wet and dirty it’s a winning moment for all! It’s OK to stay clean before the I Do’s, but after let it all go and dance the night away! You will be thankful you let go and enjoy it to the fullest!

Your wedding day is a day to celebrate, dance, drink and be present / don’t worry about those bugs, spiders and dirt, you can wash it.

cheers – christine

Marshfield Wisconsin Wedding / Jamie & Kevin
Jamie and Kevin can easily make each other laugh and instantly make anyone feel comfortable. Kevin and the guys had some great stories to tell, some were just from the night before - and Jamie and the girls knew just how to have the right kind of fun. It was a day filled with love and a whole lot of laughs that is for sure! They even toughed out the mosquito's for some photos on a tree covered road, and tip toed around geese poop. I don't know what it is about this wedding season or birds this year, but almost every wedding I have had to say "watch the poop" and "careful where you step." Strange say it so many times in just a few minutes. But ...

Amanda & Eric / Anniversary Session
These two have been married just over a year now - when I first took their photos they were engaged and dressed up for me for a styled wedding shoot at Norskedalen. Not too long after this shoot these two tied the knot at a beautiful courthouse wedding. The best part is they used the styled wedding photos for their wedding photos - this made my heart happy! I asked them to get together again to celebrate one year together! As a couple and family you should get photos done every year - and not just for Christmas cards! I mean celebrate things the little things in life - or just another year together. Anniversary Sessions need to be more of ...

Adventurous Engagement Session in Cedar Rapids Iowa From the moment I "met" these two (and Kelsey's Mom) via Skype, I just knew that they were going to be the best! These two have a love that you can just feel when you're around them.  Justin and I stood back a lot during the session just allowing them to get lost in each other. There were so many moments of calm that were so beautiful. These calm moments were mixed in with some of the best laughs between them! It is always a beautiful thing to experience - love that was meant to be. These two met in college - while they were dating other people something just pulled them together. After 2 y ...
