Brittany and Ryan got engaged on a chilly fall day at Holy Hill in Hubertus Wisconsin. Ryan had to do some convincing by telling Brittany they were going to look at the leaves. Holy Hill is a special place for Brittany as she used to go there all the time as a kid. The trail was covered with the most beautiful yellowish/orange leaves. They stopped at one of the stations, where Ryan pulled hers aside and got down on one knee.
They had a beautiful wedding at Brittany’s family church, St Francis Assisi in Milwaukee Wisconsin. As Ryan saw Brittany coming down the aisle he was overcome with emotion and love. Their ceremony was filled with personal touches from the Father, beautiful songs sung by family and so many happy tears.
The reception was downtown at The Box, where we all sat down for an intimate candlelight dinner. I was so happy to have a gluten free brownie and the best gluten free chocolate chip cookie for dessert. They brought personal touches like the mason jars from their engagement party as centerpieces. And instead of a guestbook, they had a large cutout of Wisconsin with their names and wedding date on it.
Less is more. Don’t feel pressured to include things that are trendy at the time you are planning your wedding. Try to remember that your wedding day is about you two. Sometimes that gets lost with friends and family, who are excited about your wedding day (and love you), but may try to pressure you to do what they want you to do.
