These two amazing ladies are the new leaders for the Stevens Point Wisconsin Tuesday Together meetings for the Rising Tide Society. We got together to chat about photography, business and life, while getting some photos to help people get to know their leaders. Heidi & Jen are both amazing photographers in the Stevens Point area, who I am honored to call dear friends.
I asked each gal a couple questions so you could all get to know how great they are! Get to know these amazing ladies and more about Tuesday Together Meetings & The Rising Tide:
I first met Jen when she first moved to Stevens Point with her Husband, they moved here together so he could attend school after getting out of the Army. We hit it off right away – and I am so happy to call her one of my dearest friends! I first met Heidi at one of the meetings with her husband – we had a freaking blast talking business and life over a glass of wine and cheese! This girl is one amazing woman – she works in politics and fishes in her free time! All while owning and running a photography business with her husband!
Besides photography what else keeps you busy?
JEN // Besides shooting, I spend my time thrifting, traveling, fishing with my husband, or hanging out on the farm. I also work full time as a property manager in plover. 2. I’ve been shooting for 11 years. Wowzers! But only started my business while I was living in Germany in 2011.
HEIDI // Running, fly fishing, dancing, and being an alderwoman for the city of Stevens point.
How long have you been in business?
JEN // I’ve been shooting for 11 years. Wowzers! But only started my business while I was living in Germany in 2011.
HEIDI // my husband and I photograph together- we started our LLC right after I changed my name (we got married!) in 2008, so… wow, a long time. 8 years, officially. My first camera was a Barbie pink 110mm, and my best shots were captured at or local roller rink on early release days from Riverside Elementary. ❤️
What do you like most about the rising tide?
JEN // The rts is full of people like me! I love that there is always someone who has stood where I stand. I love to be able to share my experiences as well as gain some great friends!
HEIDI // The Rising Tide Society is such a supportive, encouraging group. I love being able to relax with and be inspired by other creative people.
Why should people join you once a Month? What happens on that Tuesday?
JEN // You will always be greeted with a friendly face. (Either mine or Heidi’s) As new leaders, our intention isn’t so much about making sure we teach something, but really that we just connect with each other. Granted, we will have some discussion topics that we can always go over in between old fashioneds. 😉 Why the heck not!? Our main goal is to relax and have fun! You will always be greeted with a friendly face. HEIDI // We are a fun group! We’re here to help each other and provide a comfortable place to learn and unwind. Jen and I are new leaders for this group, and we have some exciting ideas! Our national RTS group provides us relevant (and helpful!) discussion topics for each month, and we are definitely planning lots of social time!
What music do you listen to when you want to get stuff done?
JEN // If my music is on, I could be blaring George Jones or Justin Timberlake. I like a wide range from all eras! Some of my favorites are the black keys, Florence + the machine, John Mayer, childish gambino, Florida Georgia line, Ben folds, Kings of Leon, and ratatat.
HEIDI // I love variety! Everything from big band jazz to Dave Matthews to bluegrass and Americana. I love singing along in my office. 😊
If you could photograph any person alive or dead who would it be?
JEN // Well I love to shoot couples so I’m going to cheat and pick 2. (I love to break the rules.) I would say Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden. I can’t imagine a more beautiful setting for a golden hour shoot! I have lots of questions for them so conversation would flow and I would assume it would be pretty hot and steamy with those two in front of my camera! Plus who doesn’t want to put that on their resume!?
HEIDI // I pick Leslie Knope! She’s neither dead nor alive, since she’s fictitious! She’s an inspiration for me in the realm of positivity in the face of adversity… and she’s hilarious. I also love women getting things done in politics, even in the comedy television world. I guess I’ve found my next Halloween costume! smile emogi
I highly recommend that you join the monthly meetings – they are more about growing a community than it is about networking. Get to know other business owners, learn from each other and build this amazing community.
