Luke & Betsy / With Love Blog
I want to reintroduce to you Luke and Betsy who I got to photograph their amazing wedding in Minnesota last July. These two are some of my favorite people on this planet, they didn’t live in the same state or city till a little bit before their wedding day. They took turns visiting each other, by traveling hundreds of miles to just spend few days with each other. This is love people – and I think they are pretty darn awesome! They are reliving their wedding day and giving some advice to future couples in today’s blog!
Names : Luke and Betsy Nowinsky
Wedding Date : Saturday, July 5, 2014
How did you meet? We met through eHarmony and had Punch Pizza and beers for our first date.
How did Luke propose? Luke had amateur photographers waiting at the breakwater in Presque Isle Park in Marquette, MI. Marquette was a special spot as it’s where Luke went to college, and it was a weekend away to end the summer (over Labor Day weekend). He suggested they walk out on to the breakwater and unbeknownst to Betsy, the photographers captured the whole thing when he got down on one knee.
Besty what do you love most about Luke? I love that Luke is always up for anything, any adventure big or small, while at the same time always encouraging me to try and embrace new things.
Luke what do you love most about Betsy? I love that Betsy understands me better than anyone ever has, to the point that each of us always seems to know what the other is thinking.
What would your perfect Sunday be like together? Sleeping in! Making a good breakfast (must include bacon) and LOTS of coffee. Relaxing all day, whether on the couch or outside, while Luke listens/watches to the current WI sporting events while Betsy is experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.
What memory stands out most from your wedding day? The afternoon in January that we found out our family was growing! We were thrilled to find out we were expecting a baby in October. A new and wonderful adventure for us!
What was the best part of planning your wedding day? Being able to have all the people we love most to be at or in, our wedding. The people we had at the wedding was the most important thing for us.
What was the greatest challenge in planning your wedding? What did you feel least prepared for? The sheer amount of what has to be planned, down the details. Also, trying to balance what everyone wants for that day – between us, our parents, etc.
What personal touches did you add to make your wedding day your own? We made our table numbers from scratch, which was a project we were very proud of. We’ve kept many of the table numbers which have special meaning. 🙂 We also hand-selected the music, so we knew the tunes would be ones we and our family/friends would love to dance to. And we created vows that were special and meaningful to us.
What are you looking forward to most about married life? We’re very excited to bring our first child into the world and VERY excited for all the craziness that will ensue. Being a married couple will get another layer of fun when we become parents together.
What advice do you have for couples planning their wedding day? Don’t stress out too much over all the details, things have a way of working themselves out. Also, do it in small chunks – leaving things to the end / last minute is unnecessary stress that you don’t need!
If you could have any super power what would it be? And why? We learned during our long distance relationship before marriage, would have really benefited from the ability to apparate (Harry Potter reference). Would solve a lot of problems and save quite a bit on gas money. 🙂
I am so happy to share one of my favorite couples and love stories with you two, and I cannot wait to meet the little Nowinsky coming soon this fall!
With Love – Christine
