STEINHAFEL FAMILY | Madison Wisconsin
Madison Wisconsin Fall Family Photographer
I loved meeting this family! Along with knowing they take trips together to see the world! When I was younger my parents took us all over the U.S.A, even though my siblings and I fought a lot – I still hold those memories close!
This is their story!
Mike and I both came to Madison from “near Milwaukee” towns and never left. Its been incredible growing up with this city – seems like each new phase of our lives brings new things to explore. Our parents share a wedding day – 6.26.76 – so it seemed only fitting for us to incorporate those numbers into our own – 6.02.06. Our wedding was a great celebration of us, of family and friends, of Madison – rehearsal dinner at Memorial Union, ceremony at the Captiol, reception at the Madison Club, featured local drafts, family time at the Farmers Market the next day…and I think it actually speaks to who we are, now, as a family of four, loving all thing Madison!
We are usually go-go-go, visiting old favorites and, still, finding things to explore. UW campus, the Unions, the Captiol, Farmers Market, art museums, the children’s museum, local breweries, foodie-food, Kids in the Rotunda, Governor Nelson State Park, the lakes, festivals, live music. We had an awesome time this summer tracking down all the Buckys in the Bucky Parade, little road trips every weekend, perfect excuse to check out less-frequented corners of town and old favs alike.
Get to know their rad kids!
Brock is an inquisitive soul, observant, independent and a good big brother. His favs seem to be constantly evolving especially with the new world of kindergarten. Star Wars (knows a ton of facts despite not having seen the movie!), college and professional football. Is really into drawing “football symbols” (mascots, etc.) with his dad, car makes and models, the “sound of letters,” soccer. He likes PJ Masks and Pixar movies, fruit snacks and goldfish and any kind of sweet. His bestie continues to be a monkey named Bongo and has a green lovey he cuddles up with at night.
Wes is easy going, has a great sense of humor, is in the midst of a verbal explosion – trying new words all the time, mimicking the ones he doesn’t quite have yet in fantastic charades fashion. Always trying to keep up with his big bro. Wes loves John Deere tractors (has a little mow-mow he carries around) and PUPPIES! Likes Paw Patrol and Curious George. And usually has his nigh-nigh (blue blanket) in tow.
Just listen to the rad things they do and see!
We love to travel!! In the last two years we’ve visited France, Ireland, Germany and Austria. plus some awesome sites closer to home. Yes, with the boys! We actually just got back from a long weekend in Chicago. Wherever we go, its awesome sharing adventures, experiencing the sites and cultures through their eyes. The kiddos have been such an amazing way to connect with people, wherever we go. And we find those experiences following us home in cool ways.
We were in Munich in May and got into the soccer craze. So in June/July for the World Cup – we were all in – picked some teams to root for (of course Germany was one – what a disappointment!), tested out a few local establishments for game viewing. By far our favorite was the Nomad – by the end of the tournament, the boys were on a first name basis with staff. Brock now references the Nomad by name…I think that’s an okay thing?!
We also, if you haven’t guessed it already, love taking in UW sporting events, hockey, volleyball, football, basketball…though half the time its an excuse to see the band, both of the boys have UW “marching shoes.” And for Christmas last year, Brock got a red trombone so, yea, they’re fans. Mike and I love live music. We just saw Jeff Tweedy (again) and how excited is Mike about those Pumpkin tickets…
