Milwaukee Engagement Photos with Kids
We met Adam and Ashley at our first wedding show in nearly 10 years! We were so excited to become apart of their wedding day! We were so excited to photograph their Milwaukee Family Engagement Session!
When we planned our session Ashley and Adam talked about a park they go to a lot. It was an awesome park with two dog parks! One for small dogs and one for big dogs! Cute right!?
The day of their session was a BEAUTIFUL day! A simply perfect Summer night in Wisconsin! Cool and sunny! We didn’t have to worry about sweating through our clothes! BUT, we did have to swat a few bugs – but worth it!
Ashley and Adam have two girls that have the raddest personalities! I could have hung out with them all forever! So much fun during their Milwaukee Family Engagement Session!
How did you two meet?
We met in Nashville, Tennessee; both on unique and separate adventures of our own, with no concept that each other existed. I lived in Seattle and Adam lived here in Wisconsin.
I ran into our mutual friend on the flight to Nashville. He was on his way to meet up with Adam and his band for the Halloween weekend. Upon landing, our friend offered me a ride to my Airbnb with his group so it was outside of the baggage claim, that we met!
Tell us your proposal story:
‘Twas a random Wednesday in November! I had recently come home from a work trip and we were gearing up for holiday travel. I was busy online finding flight deals and booking airfare (was feeling slightly frantic and stressed) when Adam asked if I wanted a drink and poured one for himself (in hindsight, clue #1 that something was going on as he doesn’t normally drink on work-nights).
As I continued with my project, he says “I forgot to ask you, will you go to a wedding with me?” to which I said “sure!”. Took me a few moments but then asked “Who’s wedding is it?” and looked over to see and hear him say “Yours” while pulling out a ring. Took me another few moments to realize what was going on and said “seriously?! yes!”
What do you like to do as a couple/family?
As a couple: Everything! But actually…lately we have been enjoying our own bike rides, hikes and outdoor time with the bits of sunshine we’ve had. Adam likes cribbage – I indulge him; I like puzzles – he indulges me! We have a few shows/movies that we like catching up on together. We enjoy tackling home projects together and together is about the only way they get done.
In “normal” life, we enjoy going to see live music, hang out with friends at local restaurants/bars, and explore new menus for date nights. We both also enjoy travel and it’s always better when we can do it together. As a family: Adam, Hailey, and Cailyn LOVE playing Minecraft together.
Lately, we all enjoy taking bike rides, flying kites, jump roping, and spending time outside as a family. We like cuddling in for whatever our Netflix show-of-choice is in the evenings and are pretty into crafts, particularly around holidays. You’ll find an occasional tickle fight, piggyback ride, and really any attempt for the kids to pretend they still weigh 50 lbs or less.
Adam, being stronger, is much better at playing into these dreams but I do my best! Hailey is really into art and reading (incredible at both); she’s a bit more introverted. Caitlyn, on the other hand, loves spending time with friends and others and is more inclined to play outside on her own.
By the way, this rad girl and I dressed alike!
