Amanda and Shawn had to rethink their wedding day, but I have to say it turned out even more AMAZING! They moved their Mt Horeb wedding to Westfield Wisconsin. Their ceremony was in the backyard of Amanda’s family home. While their reception was at Shawn’s family backyard! I simply loved how they connected the two families this way!
Amanda and Shawn had a beautiful Fall day! The sun was shining and it was just warm enough to not need a jacket! Amanda got ready in a little bridal tent outside! The perfect setting for this outdoor lover! If you are up for getting ready outside, DO IT! The photos are always amazing! There are ways of keeping it private!
Instead of a unity candle or sand, they watered a tree they plan to plant next year! Being able to plant a tree that you will watch grown every year you are together beautiful after their backyard wedding!
Their reception was set by a beautiful river were everyone was surrounded by beautiful fall colors! The family worked hard on smoking some delicious salmon, steaks, and salad! It was all so delicious!
He’s kind to everyone and makes me a better person. He balances me out.
She’s the most amazing person to spend time with. She always keeps things interesting.
The smiles after seeing each other for the first time on our wedding day.
The night before our wedding we spent time with close friends and family. We shared stories and ate pizza. It was simple like our wedding was. We feel like some couples get lost in all the materialistic aspects of a wedding instead of really focusing on each other and enjoying the little things. On our wedding day, things just moved so fast! It was finally here!
All the craziness of the planning, rescheduling, and changing of everything due to COVID has just turned into a blur. I’m walking down the aisle and Shawn is all I see. I’ve never seen him so happy! I’ve never been so happy. We exchange rings and with a few tears. It was our perfect little moment.
The next morning was an early one. We were having brunch and opening gifts with friends and family. It was nice to visit and relax.
The greatest challenge was having to uninvited 140 people due to COVID. So many friends and family were sad but understood why. We were not prepared to make last-minute changes like the location of the wedding and reception, having to prep our own food, having to make our own decorations, seeking help from everyone that came to the backyard wedding.
We honestly couldn’t have done it without the help of each and every person that came. I don’t think there was anything we could have done without. We were really thoughtful in our decisions when we had to make all the changes.
Everything! I, Shawn, and my parents made the decorations and centerpieces by hand. Shawn’s family helped with the food prep and set up the reception site. And the few friends we had at the wedding helped set up everything. It was all really personal.
Don’t feel too proud to ask for help. You can’t do it all yourself.
You guys were so friendly and awesome. It was easy to work with you.
