We are Christine & Justin!
Wisconsin Elopement Photographers who believe your wedding day & photographs should be filled with your personalities!
When we first met Kali and Kevin we hit it off right away. They have killer personalities and up for anything! Their engagement session was a family nonworking farm this past Winter. The water was super chilly, we had little snow, but so much puppy love! When they were up for going on the frozen lake, I knew their wedding day was going to be awesome!
When their wedding day as possibly going to change dates, we scheduled a phone call. Talking to them, you just knew they wanted to get married. They didn’t want to wait anymore! The world was so uncertain they just knew that their wedding day was going to happen. I loved their outlook and how they made the changes needed. They cut their guest list, the ordered masks, and hand sanitizer available everywhere.
Their wedding was our first “real” wedding of 2020 since February. aka Before the world crashed. It was a strange but AMAZING feeling being back at it. Seeing two amazing people tie the knot and share it with their family.
Before this blog gets WAY too long and I share WAY too much about how much I adore this couple and their wedding day. Let’s get to know them and their day, in THEIR words!
Kevin proposed by surprising Kali when she got home from work. He lined the stairs into the living room with rose petals, then had a bunch of roses all around the living room (which the dogs tried to eat). Both of our dogs (Reveley and Maverick) were wearing shirts Kevin made that said “Will you marry my Dad?”. When Kali walked in, Kevin said some very nice words (which Kali doesn’t remember) and then popped the question.
The fact that he laughs at his own jokes even when they aren’t funny. 🙂 But also I love that he is loving, trustworthy, supportive, and always there to comfort me. I was going through a rough time when we started dating, and he never judged me. Instead, he was right there next to me and got me through a lot.
She makes me a better person. She makes me healthier physically, mentally, and spiritually. She’s also my best friend, who i love to spend time with no matter what we’re doing.
Going to church first thing in the morning, followed by a big brunch, and a long afternoon of relaxing by the lake. We’d probably also bring the dogs out on the paddleboards and hang out in the water for a while.
Kevin: For me personally, I don’t think I’ll ever forget what she looked like walking down the aisle, she was truly stunning. I got emotional at first, but then felt this wave of calmness as soon as she was next to me.
Kali: So I was most looking forward to seeing Kevin’s reaction when he first saw me, but I actually wasn’t able to see him very well until I got all the way into the aisle. So I missed his initial reaction. I will always remember his smile though as I walked down the aisle towards him. I also enjoyed our time together reading our letters, even if we couldn’t see each other.
Kevin: All of it was stressful, but Kali and I got to spend a ton of time together and learn how to do new things.
Kali: Even though a lot of it was stressful, I enjoyed almost all of the planning. My favorite part though was seeing it all come together on the wedding day.
Kevin: The thing that stands out the most to me is how fast the weekend went by – it seems like there was barely any time between the night before the wedding and waking up the morning after.
Kali: I agree with Kevin. The whole thing went by so fast, it still doesn’t seem real. I thought I was going to be super nervous the day of, but I was surprisingly calm. The most stressful parts of the weekend were just setting up, and cleaning up at the end of the night. Directing a bunch of people who have been drinking is not surprisingly very difficult. I had to repeat myself a lot, and honestly was ready to just get in bed by the end of the night.
Kevin: The biggest challenge was all the smaller things that don’t seem like big or complicated decisions, but there are many of them and they all add up to being very stressful when you’re trying to get them done just before your wedding.
Kali: COVID! Definitely the hardest part! It was the reason we procrastinated so many things because we didn’t know if we would postpone or not, and it ended up making things really stressful when having to finish so many details last minute.
The string quartet that played many of our favorite songs, lots of homemade things like our signs and our masks. We also had Kali’s grandpa’s typewriter there as part of the decor and it held photos of all the people we have lost in our lives. We had also never seen a unity braid done before, and integrated that into the whole ceremony. Our pastor has also been Kali’s pastor her whole life and actually baptized Kali when she was two days old on Christmas day! It was important to us that we knew our officiant personally.
Our first dance song was also very unique. We don’t think anyone else has probably ever used it. We had watched the movie “Peanut Butter Falcon” before we had gotten engaged and fell in love with the song “Running for So Long” from the movie. That night we were listening to the song multiple times, and eventually, Kali turned to Kevin and said “This may seem weird, but do you know what this song would be good for?” And Kevin’s response was, “Our first dance at our wedding” Kali was so surprised they were thinking the exact same thing. So they decided right then that it would be their first dance song. We both related to it on a personal level and really dug deep into the lyrics when each listening to it.
How do you feel about your decision to go with Natural Intuition Photography? The best part of working with us?
We loved our engagement photos and are excited to see the wedding pics. You two have been so helpful through the whole process and were always so positive through all the COVID planning. We have loved working with you and getting to know you! You guys are so personable and made us so comfortable. We can’t wait to hopefully work with you guys again in the future! Maternity or anniversary photos in a year? Maybe both? haha 🙂
