Moody Magnolia Farms Inspired Elopement in Waupaca Wisconsin for the Rad Photographers Retreat
The styled shoot for the Rad Photographers Retreat this year was inspired by our favorite HGTV Family – Chip and Johanna Gaines Family! Love the concept of a Magnolia Farms Elopement. We partnered with Midwestern Bride on a shoot that was moody, romantic, laid back and inspiring. My motto when it comes to styling your wedding is – less is more. You don’t need a million details to make a big impact. This inspirational shoot should express that.
Midwestern Bride took some amazing plates from the Hearth and Hand Collection from Target, along with everyone’s favorite napkins. I mean come on what is more classic than black and white? We also collaborated with Saffron Avenue on the menu and place cards! She designed something that was elegant and classic. Along with being modern with the Hairpin Table and a little rustic with woven seat chairs from A La Crate Rentals. One thing that I always have to have a shoot I am part of there HAS to be candles! Candles just add something to the feel of it all.
The cherry on top of it all was the flowers from Jennifer Joyce Designs with the added food styling done by Ashley herself from The Midwestern Bride. After this shoot we all wanted our brides to wear a grey dress like the one Monirose Bespoke Gowns designed! A beautiful grey dress accompanied by a classic navy suit from The Black Tux!
Something was different…
Something was majorly different about this styled shoot collaboration, which I loved! I put my full trust in Ashley’s vision for the shoot. I told her the color palette, that I wanted candles and she ran with it! Ashley is one of the most talented and hardworking Wedding Planners in Wisconsin that I have worked with. When she came to me with the idea of a Magnolia Farms Elopement I was overjoyed! I mean come on who doesn’t LOVE Magnolia Farms and the Gaines Family!?
This year at the retreat I again didn’t photograph nearly enough – I was too busy watching the ladies work. Being able to stand back and see them get excited, inspired and giddy when they get a rad shot! This is what the retreat is all about, and why it’s so important to shoot for yourself sometimes! Get out there, plan a shoot and get creative!
