Century Barn Mt Horeb Wisconsin Wedding | Meghan & Matt
Meghan and Matt didn’t have a super easy road when it came to their wedding. Their dream wedding venue kind of dropped them, due to their construction not being finished by their date. They found another amazing venue, and they booked another couple on their date AFTER they put a deposit down. I was heartbroken for them! But, after emailing back and forth some recommendations, they found Century Barn in Mt Horeb! Justin and I haven’t been back to this venue since our dear friend got married there nearly 10 years ago. We were excited to return!
Meghan and Matt had an elegant barn wedding with pink and gold accents! They just knew how to make pink elegant! I couldn’t get enough of their details! Meghan’s wedding gown was a lace show stopper! A dress she wore with a cathedral veil, that may not have wanted to stay in her hair, but it was stunning! Matt wore a classic navy suit with a pink tie – making pink manly again!
Their reception was filled with speeches that made us all happy cry, delicious gluten-free food, and killer dancing!
Now let’s hear it from the couple!
How did you meet, and tell us about the proposal!
We went to Mexico with her family and I had been planning the event prior to the vacation. We took a walk down the beach with her family, and I asked her to walk ahead with me alone so they could take pictures and video the proposal. I got down on one knee and started trying to say what I had planned to say, but started crying almost right away. I stumbled through the proposal and she said yes (of course!) and we celebrated the rest of her night with her family. It was such a memorable night!
Meghan, what do you love most about Matt?
I love his kind heart and caring nature.
Matt, what do you love most about Meghan?
Becuase of how much she loves me. I love how I am never board with you…you always keep me guessing.
What would your perfect Sunday be like?
Sleeping in with our dog Mago then making brunch with some champs of course! We love the beach so hanging at the Chicago beach and playing volleyball. Then coming home and making dinner together with a nice bottle of wine.
What memory stands out most from your wedding day?
Matt: My two most memorable moments from the day of our wedding was the moment i saw meg walk out of the barn (I hadn’t seen her all day), she looked so beautiful in her dress and i’ll never forget that, and being tossed up in the air with her by our friends and her gigantic cousins!
Meg: What stands out most to me from our wedding day is the ceremony, when I saw Chipko and wiped away a tear. The being carried thing by my brother and Chipko’s friend was also fun for me too.
What was the best part of planning your wedding day?
The best part of the planning was when it was over lol
In your own words, describe your day from the night before your wedding to waking up on your first day as Mr & Mrs?
We had a great rehearsal dinner and then after party with all our out of town guests. It was so nice seeing our friends and family before the big day! I felt like I kinda got to talk to people! I went home early with mom to try and get some sleep. I was sooo nervous for some reason… I could barely sleep but Mom kept me very calm! We woke up super early to get our hair done at the salon. Then headed back to start makeup. Paula (Chipko’s mom ) beat us there. John (Meg’s Dad) and Sean (Meg’s brother/officiant) brought us bagels. Kendall, one of my brother and my best friends was amazing at helping with all the little details! I was pretty nervous all day but calmed down a little but when i was getting my makeup down by Kabao!
I was so nervous before walking down the aisle, Dad had a shot with me and my sister (maid of honor) to calm me down.
I wasn’t nervous to marry the love of my life just nervous to be in front of everyone. I was sooooo happy to see Chipko! It made all of my nervousness go away (after the vows ..that i messed up…of course). The night was a whirlwind and everything happened so fast but it was the best night of my life.
The next morning was so fun too b/c I got to wear my dress one more time… Chipko helped me put on my dress to meet my mom and my cousin Catherine and my brand new niece Taylor. For me (Matt) i really enjoyed spending time with friends and family on friday night, and waking up Saturday next to two of my best friends, then relaxing and drinking coffee by the lake with my closest friends. I was happy to be getting ready with my mom and dad, which meant a lot to me.
The morning after the wedding was amazing! We woke up and drank cheap champagne that the hotel gave to us. We laughed a lot and had no idea where any of our stuff was. We went to grab coffee and a little bit of food upstairs with Meg’s Mom and some of her friends, Meg was still wearing her dress and still looked amazing!
What was the greatest challenge in planning your day? Was there anything you were least prepared for? Anything you could have lived without?
Our greatest challenge was dealing with finding a new venue after our original venue fell through. We almost wanted to elope after the stress of finding a new venue 3 months before the wedding! We had to come up with an entire new plan and rethink our whole image.
We probably felt least prepared with little details, like the day of schedule and little things like pictures and details we wanted. We could have definitely done without the venue change! We could have done without the venue issue ha
What personal touches did you add to make your wedding day your own?
Other than the flowers we (and Meg’s Mom and sister- molly) and our family helped with everything the day of! That same team worked hard on all the pre wedding stuff. We were so lucky we had the best family to help us that day! It was a lot of work and a lot of steaming linens lol
If you wrote your own vows, would you mind sharing them?
Chipko, you are my best friend, the love of my life and my Partner in crime. I am so lucky to have you in my life, it wasn’t love at 1st sight, and it was by no means a romantic beginning, but you made a place in my heart.(forever changed)?
Your smile is so energetic and cute that when you smile I can’t help but do it back. Your hugs feel like I’m home.
You always make me laugh, even if its not always with you, but I love you for that I admire your kind heart and caring nature. We have been through so much together in the past 6 years and I know we can handle anything that life throws at us. Because we are a team and we have made it to this day, together. You know me better than anyone else in this world and somehow, still manage to love me. I am so thankful for the day you got down on one knee and cried.
I want to soak up every moment of this day, I don’t want to forget a single thing, and we both know how forgetful I am.
I promise to love and accept you unconditionally, even when we are old and wrinkly I know you will always be there for me and I promise to always be there for you, when it’s easy, and especially when it’s hard.
I promise to always push you towards your goals, and support you in anything you do I Promise I’ll stand beside you, and I’ll make sure to be that kick in the ass when you are still sittin I promise to never take any day with you for granted I promise to try to be patient with you, like you always are with me Chipko, Do you want to know what I am most excited for? After all the dancing, fun, and goodbyes, we get to go home together, forever
I will do my best to not botch this as bad as my proposal and I will do my best to stand up straight When I first met you You were the clumsy girl who spent most of her time during Broomball ✊➡️✊⬅️👋💦’s sprawled out on the ice. I quickly learned how supportive caring and loving you are and how good you were about bringing back to normal when I wasnt feeling like myself.
I love your spotenieity and how you always keep me on my toes. I love how you always manage to make me the best version of myself You are my greatest support system and I promise to always be the same for you!
I promise to challenge you and put you first, I promise to be your best friend and do my best to make you smile! I promise to never be boring, and above all, I promise to love you with all of my heart! I look forward to all of the adventures and all of the laughs that we will share together, and I am so excited to see where we will go together! I love you so much Meghan Gallagher and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you!
