The Raddest Photography Workshop in the Midwest!
The fourth Rad Photographers Retreat (new site coming soon!) happened this month at it was one to remember for so many reasons! The raddest photography workshop in Wisconsin! Mother Nature threw us a little curveball this year with yet another snowstorm! Last year we got the storm on the last night, this year we got it on the day of the Styled Shoot.
But, before all that happened, the ladies were welcomed with a champagne cocktail and delicious munchies! That included a Charcuterie board and mini pies from Yield Bakehouse! The ladies got to see a few of the rad things I was giving away. Which includes some of my favorite things like – a SUPER COMFORTABLE sweatshirt from Lake Effect Co!
Other Rad Sponsors who donated some rad things and discounts for the attendees! Cloudspot, StompSoftware, Greetabl, Holdfast Gear and FloThemes!
The first night was where I talked about my story, the good, the bad & the ugly! My story was not all puppies and rainbows, but I wouldn’t be who I am today without any of it! We talked about our fears, our goals and learn we are not alone.
The day of the snowstorm we woke up for Yoga. But since our Yogi couldn’t make it due to the roads being too bad, Emily and Wendy to the rescue! They put Yoga on the TV and the ladies had a relaxing start to the day! Then the ladies had breakfast, colored some rad pages made by OH YAY STUDIO while receiving a gift from Greetabl. I loved putting these boxes together, each attendee got something different, just in case they wanted to trade. Then we heard from the amazing Bobbi of Twig and Olive Photography!
This snowstorm caused myself and Ashley of Midwestern Bride to go into problem-solving mode. The professionals that we are, handled things to create amazing things! I could NOT have done this without the help of Ashley, Emily of OH YAY STUDIO and April of Third West Studio!!!! All of these ladies helped with styling, installations and keeping me calm! (Justin kept trying to hand me a cocktail, that took me the whole day to drink)
Another key member of this is my amazing partner in life Justin!
This rad man ran back to Madison to get a box that I forgot for the retreat, then drove 3+ hours in a SNOWSTORM! Driving to try and get our flowers from our florist, but that sadly didn’t happen due to the weather. So Ashley headed to the closest store for all the flowers she could carry, again in a snowstorm.
This year we added a family session to the retreat! My amazing friend and her family came to model. Thankfully the storm paused so we could take them outside for a bit! They are such a stylish and adorable family!
Since we couldn’t take our wedding couple outside due to the mess that was happening outside. I got to teach the attendees how to use the window light and create amazing photos for your couple! Some attendees were actually overjoyed that we couldn’t go outside! Learning how to create portraits inside was simply what they needed! They learned so much and were stoked about their images!
Also, how amazing would it be to have a bouquet of tulips at your wedding!? I think they were simply beautiful!
The final day the ladies heard from April from Third West Studio about Branding and Website Design. Wendy talked everything legal, and Emily from Oh YAY Studio told us her story and how your passion can become a career! Then the ladies got a chair massage, which was perfect after a full day of shooting!
Then the final night the ladies got dressed up to sit down to a plated meal prepared by Sulten Belly! Again he didn’t disappoint! Eric has done dinners for us at the Retreat for four years now! Since he first started with us, he’s started his own restaurant and is catering up a storm! This man makes delicious food, and is just amazing at what he does!
This years retreat was again amazing, challenges and all! I am already planning in 2020, and I cannot wait to share! The new location, new speakers and so beginnings!
