Jessica and Dan have gone through a lot planning their Sugarland Barn Wedding! Most of it has to do with the Coronavirus and how the ever-changing regulations on weddings.
We all stayed in constant contact planning, replanning, and regrouping how everything was going. Thankfully Sugarland was also staying up to date on all the regulations and rules that we had to comply with. All to make their wedding day happen!
After a lot of deliberations, we all planned to have the day they all were planning. Jessica and Dan cut their wedding guest list WAY down and decided to have it all outside.
Thankfully Jessica got her dress before the world shut down! But, sadly it delayed their wedding bands to arrive. But, those small details didn’t stop them from having a beautiful wedding day!
The ceremony was delayed a bit to wait out the rain. Everyone in different households sat apart and some wore masks and gloves the whole time. It may have rained on us a bit during the ceremony, but it didn’t seem to bother anyone!
After the ceremony, we snuck away for a few photos to capture the mist in the air. Then we all grabbed some pizza, a champagne toast and they drove off in their getaway car!
Love stories all seem to have a similar vein and flow, however, each is unique. The way the heartstrings are tied together for each couple is a knot specific to them alone. It was one of the first meetings of the core group of the Eastside Church plant, that I first laid eyes on my future. She walked in the doors of our basement meeting area and I immediately took notice. Smartly dressed, rocking sensible heels, with her head up, walking in tall even though she only came up to my shoulder. “Whoa, she is fine,” was my first impression. Something seemed odd though, and it took me a second to realize what it was… she walked in here alone… Naturally, I creeped a little…no ring. “Interesting,’ I thought, ‘most interesting.”
The meeting began and the group began singing hymns and off to my right, there was this voice, a lovely alto. Of course, I had to look, and sure enough, there she was again. Whoa, okay, I need to at least learn her name. “Jessica”, she would later say. “Jessica”, I thought, that’s a pretty name… I’ll have to remember it.
Jessica invited me to her birthday party. I’ll never forget it, as she opened the door. The striking red dress immediately reminded me of Carmen Sandiego. (if you don’t know who that is, she is a 90’s villain that I always had a thing for…but I digress). She invited me in and I made sure that I picked up my jaw before stepping in her house. Played it cool the rest of the night, but was certainly impressed.
We became friends, learning more about each other. Quickly found out, that we were different in many ways, and strait up polar opposites in most of them. Despite that, we still enjoyed each other’s company and I wanted to keep hanging out with her even when she frustrated me. She was on my mind more often than was usual and was my first inclination that perhaps there was more here.
