So I am going to be honest for as long as I can remember I hated weddings, going to them, being in them, helping plan – ALL of it. But then I started to photograph them and I seriously fell in LOVE with them! There are so many things to love about them – the dress, the jewlery, the tuxes, the flowers, the vows and the things I love most are the couples and families! Everyone is so happy at weddings! EVERYONE! No matter if you want to be there or not, everyone has a ear to ear smile on their face from beginning to end! I know I do – my face hurts after weddings from all the laughing and smiling!
Weddings are the combining of two families and sometimes certain family members cannot be there – have it be a relative that passed away or someone who is serving over seas. At Kyle and Anna’s wedding there were both – and they made sure they were present with them on their special day! Kyle’s Mom passed away and could not be there to see her son marry the women of his dreams – but was there in spirit and he made sure to bring her wherever he went ~ her wedding ring was set into his boutonniere.
Kyle’s brother was to be his best man at their wedding but was called over seas just before the wedding and was unable to come – but his brother made sure that he made his speech! During the slide show of Kyle and Anna through the years a surprise video of Derek came up and he made a short speech the bride and groom. There was not a dry eye in the place – I cried for sure!
(Sorry about all the grain – but I was being non intrusive during such a emotional time with my 50mm and no flash)
Now when people ask my why I photograph weddings I tell them : I ADORE them! I love seeing two people in love stand up and announce their love in-front of all their loved ones. I can feel my heart grow a little bit more every-time I photograph a wedding. So people know when they meet me and talk wedding they know I have a true passion for photography and weddings!
